About Gallery Chartreuse

Upon entering into the courtyard, you will enjoy the tranquil water cascading from the Petroglyph sculptural fountain. Stepping into a threshold of beauty, and inspiration you’ll see a kaleidoscope of color with Kay Kenton’s abstracts depicting the vibrant hues of Hawaii where she exhibited for many years. While living in Tucson, Ms. Kenton met her painting mentor, the renowned Alfred Rogoway.

Daniel Bethune, accomplished painter, whose representational landscapes and skyscapes of the local Northern New Mexico beauty stirs the soul. Daniel values diversity and freedom in his artistic expression. He paints in a variety of styles and mediums and takes exception to the idea that he could become pigeon-hold into one style.

Thomas Bethune’s photography reveals the depth of a spiritual sense as he intuitively captures the images from Northern India monasteries to the redwood forests in Northern California. Tom has recently fully embraced digital photography and aptly conveys the expansion of his artistry.

Dwight Hume’s sculpture of stone and metal, many inspired by his favorite Sufi mystics, Rumi and Hafiz, seem to dance to the music of the spheres. Sculpting realism to abstract, Dwight has been commissioned to create art for public places and is collected in the corporate and private sectors.

Gallery Chartreuse opened its doors in December 2008 with the chanting of blessings by the monks of Drepung Loseling Monastery. All present felt a sense of calm, peace and hopefulness for a new beginning. The gallery maintains the essence of their introduction into the Santa Fe art community by continuing to offer thought-provoking and uplifting works of art. Works appealing to all palates from realism to abstract, created by emerging and established artists.

Grand Opening:

The Grand Opening on May 1, 2009 was a phenomenal success. Over 500 patrons attended the opening reception decorated with Maypole ribbons in celebration of the beginning of summer. Toasting the new gallery with a champagne bar at the neighbor’s next-door, SantaFe.com, featured artists were enjoying the attention and praise, and everyone was thrilled with the expanding energy and spirit of the event.
